Artist Conversation with Arlene Mejorado & Raul Rodirguez
Join Deep Red Press for an inspiring conversation with photographers Arlene Mejorado and Raul Rodriguez at Kinfolk House . Learn about their creative journeys, artistic processes, and the inspirations behind their work.
Invitation to Artists:
**Photographers and visual artists are encouraged to participate in the conversation, reflect on their own practices, and learn how photography can be a tool for storytelling and social impact.
- Arlene Mejorado:
Featured in the upcoming 'Diaries of Home' exhibition at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. She explores identity and community through her lens.
- Raul Rodriguez:
Publisher of Mejorado’s 2017 photobook 'La Pulga.' He will share insights into their collaboration and discuss his approach to photography and publishing.

Rosedale Monument Project: “My Southside” Poetry Reading
The public unveiling and reading of "My Southside, Our Community," a poem written by April Lynn Pelton, Tarrant County's Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate (2023), and commissioned by artist Christopher Blay as part of the Fort Worth Public Art East Rosedale Monument Project.
An Afternoon of Performances featuring Sara Herrera and Nuestra Art Collective
3208: A Performance by Sara Herrera
Sara Herrera's work is inspired by her family, Tejana roots, daydreaming as a little girl and growing up in her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. Through each piece she creates, there is a taste of home, vulnerability and nostalgia.
Herrera's solo piece, 3208, is an homage to her beloved childhood home and to her hometown. Through movement, storytelling, and an ice-cold beer, 3208, sheds light on childhood memories growing up in Fort Worth and in a vibrant Latino community.
*please note there is audience participation and it is highly encouraged, but also optional, to join and have fun with the performer when kindly, and enthusiastically, asked.
La Enorme Distancia
Installation and performance by members of Nuestra Artist Collective. Performers Sara Herrera and Tina Medina will activate an artwork featuring projections by Tesa Morin and Lupita Murillo Tinnen.

Artist Talk and Workshop with Kristin Boyer
Join us for an artist talk and workshop with Coppell-based artist Kristin Boyer. Boyer will share how her experience learning Japanese has influenced her current body of work. Afterward, she will lead a workshop demonstrating the kumihimo, a traditional Japanese artform of cord-making.
Free, but registration is required for this program as space is limited.
Angel Cabrales Virtual Artist Talk
Join us for a virtual artist talk with El Paso-based artist Angel Cabrales. He will journey us through his process of creating and finding meaning in his symbolic installations that are social/political commentary on the dehumanization of migrants.

The Art of Healing
In observance of World Prematurity Day, Kinfolk House and UNT Health Center at Fort Worth Healthy Start have partnered to facilitate an engaging discussion about preterm birth and offer a therapeutic art activity rooted in healing and restoration. We invite all guests to wear purple.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Kinfolk House Family Reunion
As the weather cools, we invite you to visit and enjoy games, food, and music with us. Fort Worth artist Charles Gray will host and DJ and our friends from Fort Redemption will bring the food.
Free meals will be provided for the first 30 attendees.

Mending Gardens: Phase 2
Dallas-based artist Ofelia Alvarenga invites the community to participate in a collective grief process. Mending Gardens; Phase 2 is an evolving workshop, in which guests are invited to join in the collaborative action of attaching inorganic and organic materials to a colossal skirt.
The goal of the action is to dismantle negative connotations around grief, as Alvarenga views grief as the beginning of healing and a multifaceted journey not limited to sadness.

We are excited to participate in ArtsGoggle this year! ArtsGoggle is Fort Worth’s premier festival of local arts, a space where creatives can display their gifts and build community. We invite you to stop by our booth and also engage with local artists.

Weaving Memories
Join Kinfolk House and our friends from the Fort Worth Weavers Guild on Saturday, October 14, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. as they guide us through the process of weaving photo-printed fabric. Photographs are tools used to help us capture significant moments in our lives; in this workshop, our precious memories will serve as a foundation to create art and revitalize souvenirs of the past.
All materials will be provided.

This program is presented by Arts Fort Worth as part of a monthly series of demonstrations and seminars geared towards artists, art nonprofits, and other creative professionals, highlighting the diverse support services available in our community.
Kinfolk Open Studio
We welcome the community to come create and experiment collectively in the heart of our home. Kinfolk House will provide tables, chairs, and limited art supplies. Guests are invited to bring their own materials as well.

Spencer Evans Artist Talk
Hear from Rhode Island-based artist Spencer Evans about his art and creative process. Evans will discuss the works on view at Kinfolk House as well as a comic book he is producing. Attendees are invited to come in cosplay and will be able to purchase graphic novels and comic books on site from our friends from The Dock Bookshop.
Sandra Scott-Revelle Virtual Artist Talk
Knowledge of our history helps us build stronger bridges to the future. Kinfolk House invites you to a virtual artist talk with Sandra Scott-Revelle.
Scott-Revelle will discuss the significance of her Black History Collection, which is currently on view at Kinfolk, share historical narratives from people who were enslaved in the U.S., and reveal insights to her creative process.

Drop-in Textile Workshops
Stop by Saturday, April 22 from Noon to 4:30 pm for two drop-in textile workshops.
Local artist Deyjah Stewart will demonstrate the traditional craft of Molas from Noon to 1:30 pm.
The Fort Worth Weavers Guild will lead a weaving demonstration from 2 pm to 4:30 pm.

Kinfolk Couture
For Spring Gallery Night, Kinfolk House presents one-of-a-kind designs by University of North Texas Fashion students. Kinfolk artist, Houston-based fashion designer Isabel Wilson will be onsite to speak about her work following the show.
